Sigerson Clifford, Caherciveen, Poet and Playwright, 1913-1985. He was considered South Kerry’s greatest Poet of the 20th Century. While best known for his evocative poem and song ‘The Boys of Barr na Sráide’, he also wrote many poems about the Tinker Clans and Puck Fair which he saw as the great Fair of Iveragh. He had a great affinity for Killorglin which showed in his writings. He was commemorated in Killorglin in 2010 when a verse of his poem ‘O drink your porter’ was unveiled on a limestone plaque as part of ‘The Puck Poets’ project. Ref: F312
