The Mountain Roots Music Weekend is hosted by Teacht Thar Sáile Folk Club, a small, non-profit group promoting live music appreciation and performance. Now in its third year, the “Roots” 2016 will kick off on Friday afternoon, when a visiting Bluegrass group, Mile Twelve, will share musical experiences with the local primary school. Different genres of music can be enjoyed throughout the weekend, ranging from traditional to bluegrass, folk, country, blues, singer songwriter and jazz. Why not take part in an open session, hosted by local and return visiting musicians? Musical workshops will take place on Saturday. Venues are located close together and have free entry. Daytime and evening events are family friendly and include a Youth Concert on Saturday featuring Mile Twelve, The Dizzy Blues Band, Two Time Polka, The Reel Deal, John Nyhan, Mick Power, Paul Evans, Cathal Cusack, Ritchie MacCarthy, Céline Kavanagh, Marion Cournane, Wally Desmond, Vinnie Hyland and several more local musicians. There will be a venue for promotion of other local artists and alternate attractions. These include Photographers, instruments makers and alternate therapies for those who need a break from Music.
