Artist Statement
“He, The Town”
My work seeks to show the relationship of generations within a family and allow it to act as a microcosmic perspective of a rural Irish household. Through the memories of a mother, speaking to her son about her husband and her recently deceased father, simple domestic set- pieces such as cutting each others hair or visiting the graves of deceased family offer an insight into trivial processes employed by most households, as well revealing the unique life’s work of a collector.
The Irish Times, called it “An exceptional piece, sensitive, compelling, brave and quiet surprising”.
He, The Town was nominated for Best Short Documentary in the Kerry Film Festival 2011, and The Digital Hub 2011 Awards.
