1999 New Years Eve. Kate O’Sullivan aged 103 lights the Millennium Candle at Midnight . Kate O’Sullivan was born on October 7th, 1896 and was one of Irelands oldest women when she died aged 105. She put her long life down to potatoes a bowl of porridge every morning and a little brandy every night with hot water and sugar. Her life spanned three centuries. She lived through the Easter RIsing in 1916, two world wars and the creation of the Free State. Ref: F183
