Description
This challenge is a 31km walk that encompasses some of the most scenic and remote landscapes in Western Europe but requires a high level of physical fitness and mental determination combined with the ability to navigate in adverse weather conditions and is not for the faint hearted. Although this is not a guided walk members of Annascaul Walks will be out on the mountains to man checkpoints, food stations and to assist you. The route will be marked with marker poles but you must carry a map and compass, the relevant Ordnance Survey Ireland map is number 70. A GPX file is available for you to download for use in a GPS device but this is not to be used as an absolute guide. All entrants must carry a daysack with wet weather gear and suitable provisions. All entrants must wear hiking or mountain boots. Trainers, cross-trainers, multi-sports shoes and approach shoes are not acceptable footwear for this event. The cost of the event is 45 Euros which includes transport to the start from Annascaul, a commemorative medal and a BBQ in the evening.
