Lady Edith Gordon published this rare and marvelous memoir in 1934. She lived through a pivotal period in Irish history and was uniquely privileged to be able to recount it from a comparatively independent vantage point. She has a remarkable – and very human – story to tell, and she writes with an amiable, accessible style.
