A mist closes in on Drung Hill. This photo displays graphically the task that faced the engineers and workers in boring through the red sandstone of Drung Hill. The rock displaced in the tunneling was used to build embankments and also in the building of the Viaduct at Gleesk.  Source: The National Library of Ireland.
